10th Ordinary Meeting of the ICPDR

10th Ordinary Meeting of the ICPDR was held on December 4-5 2007, in Vienna, whereof, the issue of cooperation of the ICPDR and the Sava Commission and preparation of the related Memo of Understanding was reconsidered.Hereby, the cooperation between the two commissions would be formally regulated even on stronger grounds in comparison to cooperation that would originate from the mutually granted observer status.

The document »Joint Statement on Guiding Principles for the Development of Inland Navigation and Environmental Protection in the Danube River Basin« made under the process managed by the ICPDR, the Danube Commission and the Sava Commission was adopted.

The usual presentation on activities of the Sava Commission realized in period as of the previous ordinary meeting of the ICPDR held in December 2006 was delivered.

Toward the end of the session, the representatives of the Sava countries and the Secretary of the Sava Commission had a meeting with the representative of DG Environment, Mr. Joachim D’Eugenio, in regard to possible support of the European Union in financing the projects of the Sava Commission. Mr. D’Eugenio announced the possibility of financing the one of projects related to river basin management (DG Enlargement). Pursuant to the given information, next steps in development of the project proposal and applying for the financial assets have been agreed.
