Third Coordination Meeting under the “Petersberg Phase II / Athens Declaration” process

On May 29-30 2006, in Athens was held the Third Coordination Meeting under the “Petersberg Phase II / Athens Declaration” process, as regular annual gathering of participants of the process for purpose of analysis of the realized activities and establishment of the Work Plan for the next year. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Government of Germany, as the coordinator of the “Petersberg Phase II” process, the Government of Greece, as the coordinator of the “Athens Declaration” process, and representatives of the SEE countries, World Bank, and other international organizations such as GEF IW:LEARN and GWP-MED, in whose premises the Meeting was held.

One of the main topics of the event was the organization of the “Roundtable on Trans-boundary Multipurpose Water Management in the Sava River Basin”, to be held on November 15-17 2006 in Zagreb. Herewith, the work of the Sava Commission on taking over the role of the coordinator in process on water management in the Sava River Basin under conditions of the multi-purpose utilization of water resources and existence of trans-boundary impacts would be supported. In conversation related to this topic, the Secretary of the Secretariat of the Sava Commission, Mr. Dejan Komatina, presented the role, goals and activities of the Sava Commission. According to the attendees, the provided information significantly facilitated the conversation on concept and content of the Roundtable.
