The Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism Development in the Sava River Basin has been developed as a strategic framework to guide the sustainable development of tourism across the region. While it represents a significant milestone, its full implementation is envisaged in the forthcoming period.
Upon implementation, the Master Plan is expected to support the development of sustainable tourism, including ecotourism in protected areas, nautical tourism along the Sava River and its tributaries, and cycling tourism along the Sava Corridor. It will contribute to the development of tourism infrastructure, strengthening stakeholder cooperation, promoting investment, and ensuring that tourism growth is aligned with environmental protection and the preservation of the basin’s natural and cultural heritage.
The assignment has been implemented within the Sava and Drina Rivers Corridors Integrated Development Programme (SDIP), Phase I, Part 4: Regional Activities funded by World Bank and Global Environment Facility.
