Kick-Off Meeting on Development and operationalization of Sava GIS 2.0
The kick-off meeting for the "Development and Operationalization of the Sava GIS 2.0 System" project was held on October 20, 2026, at the premises of the International Sava River Basin Commission in Zagreb. This project is part of the broader Sava and Drina Rivers Integrated Development Program (SDIP) - Phase 1, Part 4 - Regional Cooperation.
The project is funded by the World Bank. It was formally initiated upon the signing of the contract on September 24, 2026, with a completion deadline of October 24, 2027.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Krunoslav Sopček, Deputy Secretary for Navigation at the International Sava River Basin Commission. Attendees included representatives of the Sava Commission Secretariat, members of Permanent Expert Groups, and representatives from the companies selected to execute the project: the consortium consisting of GDi d.o.o. and Perpetuum Mobile d.o.o., both based in Zagreb.
During the meeting, the teams were introduced to one another, and an overview of the project was presented—covering its background and rationale, the implementation approach and project plan, the vision and technical concept, stakeholder requirements and data sources, as well as capacity building and stakeholder engagement.
Finally, the next steps were agreed upon. In the initial phase, a series of intensive workshops will be conducted to precisely define functional specifications and the technical details of the solution, ensuring that implementation can proceed in the subsequent stages of the project. A weekly schedule for conducting workshops has been agreed upon, as well as methods for communication and reporting at all levels.
