Slovenia Assumes the Presidency of the Sava Commission
Following the conclusion of the 71st Session, a ceremonial handover of the presidency of the International Sava River Basin Commission took place, during which the Republic of Slovenia assumed the presidency from the Republic of Serbia for the next three-year term. On this occasion, it was emphasized that, in addition to carrying out activities arising from the Framework Agreement, the Commission is increasingly establishing itself as a platform that brings together the basin countries around common development initiatives. This further confirms that international cooperation is not only a mechanism for addressing shared challenges, but also a driving force for the sustainable development of the entire Sava River Basin.
The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Peter Lovšin, State Secretary at the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia, who addressed the participants and expressed his confidence that, under Slovenia’s presidency, the Commission will continue to build upon the achievements of previous years and provide fresh momentum for strengthening regional cooperation throughout the Sava River Basin.
