Introduction

Public participation is one of the core principles in sustainable water management as required by the Protocol on flood protection to the FASRB.
The main objectives of the public participation process are:

• to ensure public participation in implementation of the Prototol, to make the decision process transparent and to gain the support for the implementation of the Protocol;
• to raise awareness about the issues concerning flood risk management;
• to facilitate the establishment of effective structures and mechanisms for public participation;
• to inform the wider public and mobilize main key stakeholders to participate in activities and structures on the Sava river basin level.

The active involvement of the public in the preparation of the Sava Flood Risk Management Plan started on October 31, 2018.

Stakeholder Forum workshop was held in Belgrade on 14-15 November when the first draft of the Sava FRMP was presented and the participants had opportunity to provide their comments.
